Mindfulness

Mindfulness has become quite trendy recently and for good reason. Mindfulness is the cornerstone to a healthy mind; think of mindfulness as squats for your brain.  Practicing mindfulness regularly changes the physical shape of your brain!  We will explore just what mindfulness is, its benefits and how you can practice it. There is no shame in your mental game. Investing in your mental health is crucial for a happy and fulfilling life. Let’s face it, stuff happens in life that is really hard to deal with and it is unrealistic to think that we can avoid pain. Painful events are a part of life and a healthy mind is able to tolerate and cope with those events without allowing them to take over. Deliberate behaviors can help prime our minds into tip top shape so we aren’t missing out on pleasure and joy.

When we want to get in prime physical shape we deliberately do things like exercise, eat more fruits and vegetables and stay away from fats and sugars to make that happen. Our mental health requires the same effort and intention as our physical health. We can exercise our bodies and eat super healthy but if our minds aren’t well we are missing out on positive experiences and feelings.

I am going to give you the tools necessary to prime your mind into the best shape possible.  I am an experienced clinical therapist and I have worked with adults, children and families with all types of disorders from borderline personality disorder to anxiety and substance abuse.  All you need to do is commit to making your mental health a priority.
